Article 23 – 810. “Skilled manpower constitutes a great resource in this state.  Apprenticeship programs, through supervised training and education, develop skilled craftsmen and help meet the increasing needs for such workers in the state’s labor force.  The continuing development of skilled manpower is essential for individual self-realization and for an expanding industrial economy.  To these ends, it is the declared public policy of the state of New York to develop sound apprenticeship training standards and to encourage industry and labor to institute training programs.”

In collaboration with the Sheet Metal Workers’ international Training Institute (ITI) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ International Association (SMACNA), the Joint Apprentice & Training Committee provides a number of opportunities including:

1. Comprehensive training programs for Journeypersons and Apprentices

2. Anticipation and implementation of changing technologies

3. Assistance and enhancement to local training programs

4. TABB Certifications (Test and Balance)

5. Welding Facility AWS Accreditation

6. Instructor Training Programs

7. Manuals to assist with the above
