General information

Over the past couple year’s, there have been substantial changes to many of our benefit plans.  Due to that, we are happy to say that a new Summary Plan Description booklet (called an SPD), has been prepared and distributed to all participants.  At this point in time, the Health Fund and the Annuity Fund sections have been updated with any changes that have been made since the last SPD’s were written in 2001 and 2003.  The Pension Fund section will be forthcoming in the near future.

New computer system:  At the end of last year, the Fund Office installed a new computer system.  This system greatly enhances all facets of the office, such as claims processing, record keeping, personal statements, to name just a few.  Specifically, you have already received and will continue to receive Hours Statements and HRA Statements on a timely basis.

Annuity Fund:  The Annuity Fund has been with Prudential for 3 years.  Within their platform, you will find investment choices from Prudential and Manning & Napier Advisors.  You should be receiving quarterly statements that will show you your investment choices.  As always, it’s very important to keep your personal information updated so that you continue receive their mailings.  You can do that either directly with Prudential or through the Fund Office.

Health Fund:  Effective January 1, 2009, Dental and Vision Claims Processing are being administered by a third party administrator called Health Economics Group (HEG).  You now have an HEG identification card that you can show your providers.  RMSCO and Envision continue to help us administer your health and prescription benefits.  Please remember that your Disability and HRA benefits are administered directly out of our benefit office.

Pension Fund:  It is very important for all participants to constantly monitor their pension statements and to be sure that the Fund’s records match your own.  That way, when you plan on retiring, you won’t have the chore of trying to find missing hours and benefits.

When you decide to retire, please try to contact the Fund office approximately 3 months in advance, when possible.  This will enable the process to move along smoothly and allow you to enjoy your retirement!

Please make it a point to update your address and your beneficiaries that you have on file for all the Funds.

Finally, it is important to remember that we remain a fully “Self funded” Insurance Plan and as such.....every penny we save, we all save together; and every penny we waste, we waste together.
